Winning the real battle

What we see in the natural world is often just a symptom—not the real cause. The Bible shows us again and again that behind the visible events in our lives, there is an unseen spiritual reality at work.
Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 4:18: "We do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal."
What was behind Job’s tragedies?
Take the story of Job as an example. In one day, disaster struck from every side: raiders killed his servants and stole his animals, lightning struck his sheep, and a great wind collapsed the house where his children were (see Job 1).
To any outsider, these events looked like tragic accidents or random attacks. But Scripture pulls back the curtain in Job 1:6–12 and Job 2:3–6, revealing that something was happening in the spiritual realm. Satan had sought permission to test Job, and the visible tragedies were only the symptoms of an invisible battle.
Understanding the true battlefield
Many of us react only to what we can see, because we don't understanding the true battlefield. We argue with people, stress over circumstances, and exhaust ourselves trying to fix problems in the natural world.
Paul writes in Ephesians 6:12: "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places."
If people are causing problems in your life, remember—they are not your real enemy. The real battle is spiritual. Conflicts, resistance, and setbacks often have roots in the unseen realm. And if we only fight on a natural level, we will never truly solve the problem.
Using the weapons god has given
God has given us spiritual weapons to fight these battles. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 10:3–4:"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds."
These weapons include prayer, faith, declaring God’s Word, and fasting. Jesus Himself said that some battles are only won by “prayer and fasting” (Matthew 17:21). And James reminds us of the power available to every believer: "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." (James 5:16)
When we engage in prayer and spiritual warfare, we shift the fight to the realm where victory is truly won.
Living unshakeable
The natural world may shake, but those who understand and engage with the spiritual reality will stand firm. If you want to live unshakeable, you must learn to see beyond the visible and stop fighting symptoms. Start addressing the root causes. Take up the weapons God has given you, and watch Him bring real victory—both in the unseen and in the seen.
